A website that ranks starts before the design
SEO added after launch is expensive, because it often means restructuring pages that were designed without it. Plan it in from the start.
Before design
Map what your audience searches for and decide which page answers each need. Plan the site structure and URLs around those pages, and decide who will write the content.
During the build
Use clean, semantic markup. Design mobile first. Size images properly and keep scripts lean so the pages load quickly. Add structured data where it fits.
At launch
If you are replacing an existing site, redirect the old URLs to their new equivalents. Submit a sitemap, connect analytics and set up Search Console so you can see how the site is doing from day one.
After launch
Watch what people search, where they land and where they leave. A website is never finished. It gets better as you learn from real visitors.
